I am a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, where I obtained my BA Degree in Honours Youth and Children Studies, minor Criminology.
During my studies, the Youth and Children Program has allowed me to learn many different perspectives of childhood and adolescence using varies tools from psychology, social work, Indigenous studies, health studies, literature and history. I have graduated with knowledge and skills that will help me approach contemporary, social, education, legal, cultural and health issues children face and those who work with them.
I was recently employed as a Child Minding Program Leader at the Branford Family YMCA. My roles were to assist the growth and development among children and youth ages 0 to 14. During my time at the Brantford Family YMCA, I have acquired such skills as, multitasking, rapport building, and report writing. I have developed the ability to be decisive under pressure, communicate effectively with a particular emphasis on competence and problem solving, work co-operatively with team members and individually, manage time well and efficiently, and work flexible hours. I have as well held the position as a Camp Counsellor and Day Care summer student in previous years.
