| Hello! My name is Kendyll. I am a fourth year undergraduate student in the biopharmaceutical science program at uOttawa. I am 23 years old and currently reside in the Byward Market area. I have about six years of experience working with children with disabilities and over eight years of childcare (babysitting) experience. I have been living in Ottawa for 4 years and I am a native English speaker from Boston, Massachusetts. I have elementary Spanish language skills and limited sign language skills (but I am eager to learn!). I have a younger brother and numerous pets. I am American Red Cross lifeguard certified. | I have been babysitting for approximately 7 years in a casual when-needed setting. I love children, and my past and current jobs have all been working with children. | I have been working with children since I was 11 years old. I taught Sunday school at my church for 3 years and worked in a nursery for 2 years. I have been babysitting regularly since I was 13 years old. I have many families who's children I have cared for throughout their lives. I spent 6 months in france working as an au pair. I had to manage the daily routine of 2 children, aged 3 and 5, and was responsible for the housekeeping involving the children (tidy their bedrooms, laundry make their beds, cook and clean up from meals) I was also tasked with the older child's homework help, and their bath and bed time routines. Growing up I always had a nanny or a babysitter looking after me, so when I babysit for a family I draw from experiences from my childhood. I had a few nanny's who would just give me a colouring book or turn on the tv and not actively engage me. When I look after children I first and foremost find out the children's interests and then I try and plan fun activities for when I am with them. I am all for watching a movie or a tv show every once and a while... But not all the time. I like to get kids up and moving, doing things outdoors instead of sitting in front of the tv or computer.

I have worked with children for the last 4 and a half years, with and without disabilities, and have always been passionate about turning childcare into a fulltime career. I am certified in Standard First Aid and CPR C with the Red Cross. As i'm a full time student, I am looking for some part time work babysitting or nannying and I am happy to work with children that have disabilities. The past year and a half I have worked as an after school and weekend caregiver with a family of 5, for 3 children which I enjoyed thoroughly. Prior to this, I worked for four years as a camp counsellor for Girl Guides Canada. I have specialized in different age groups each year and was hired on as a supervisor in my most recent year working there. When working, I was in charge of every aspect of child care for groups of up to 12 children. I was also in charge of supervising up to 7 staff members and making sure that every child is being cared for effectively. The children stay overnight for a week at a time and so the responsibilities extend overnight.
