Hi!
I am Sheila, a working, single parent of a delightful 3 yr old daughter and wonderful 6 yr old son. My children are with me 50% of the time so days throughout the month would vary. I am looking for a occasional childcare on weekends and evenings. I require a provider who has their own transportation (sorry, I can't leave the house to pick you up) and has atleast 2 years of experience caring for/teaching children with disabilities. My 6 yr old son has high functioning ADHD and ASD and is full of energy (and focus when he's captivated by an activity). I need you to be energetic and observant and engage with my children (inside and outside the house). If care was required for a period longer than 2 hours I would require simple meal preparation for snacks/lunches/dinners. A provider who is comfortable asssisting young children at dinner/bedtime would be ideal. I am a registered nurse and work full time, so I expect any provider I hire to have a current (within 6 months) criminal record check with vulnerable sector included. I can offer a fair market wage (negotiable based on experience). I look forward to connecting with specialized care providers in the area. Please reach out if this describes you!

Looking for 2 positions in 1!
Disclaimer: this position involves working with transgender teenagers. Those who have strong religious or moral opposition to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community should NOT apply.
I need some help around the house! I have some health challenges due to post-COVID and a head injury. I also have kids that struggle with autism, ADHD, and chronic pain issues. None of us are good with chores! We also have dogs that add to the mess in the home, luckily they love us and we love them back!
I'm also looking for a “friend” respite worker to help my teen get out in the world, take care of their own needs (chores, meals, et ), and be there in case of emergency. This kid is socially active, volunteering in downtown Edmonton and on Pride Corner, and needs some help to get out of the house and to and from appointments. They are super smart and are fun to have a conversation with. They cope with PTSD and mobility and pain challenges. Your duties would not involve much, if any, medical care. Applicant needs to have reliable transportation, be comfortable with dogs, and have a positive attitude towards volunteering and social activism. Home base is in Sherwood Park, but when taking kids out of house mileage is paid.
Ideally I would like someone to come in the afternoons at least 4 days a week, and then a few evenings to help my kid get to their volunteer work. The pay is $17/hr but some perks could be negotiated.

Our daughter has a rare genetic condition that resulted in physical limitations, global developmental delays, cortical visual impairment, and a seizure disorder in the form of epileptic spasms. She is wheelchair bound and relies on her caregivers for all daily activities. She is otherwise a very happy teenager that loves interacting with people and the world around her.
Ideal candidate would be energetic, patient, and reliable. Our preference would be for someone with an educational background such as EA, PT or OT, as she is not considered medically fragile. Consideration would also be given to someone with healthcare aid or nursing background, that can demonstrate interest in keeping her entertained and engaged in fun activities. Relevant experience is an asset but willing to train the right match.
Hours would be as follows - Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm for a total of 30 work-related hours. If desired, additional respite hours on evenings and weekends are available to turn it into a full-time position. Start date of January 2 with paid training shifts starting in December if available for earlier start.
Salary will range between $23 to $25 per hour, depending on experience, and include labour and payroll benefits.
Requirements for employment:
• Need your own and reliable transportation to come to work – preference will be given to someone located in or close to Sherwood Park
• Need to have a valid drivers license and ability to drive our wheelchair accessible van to take our daughter to community-based activities
• Need to produce a clean criminal record check, and vulnerable sector check.
• Need to produce excellent and independent references for similar past positions

• being a caring and loving companion to our daughter while engaging in play, exploring, and having fun together
• assisting with daily living tasks, including dressing, brief changing, showering, and feeding (pureed foods and drinks orally)
• administrating medications orally
• monitoring overall well being and documenting key health markers
• basic meal prep with special attention to dietary needs
• personal care related tasks, such as bedding changes and laundry
Our daughter loves music, story reading, walks to neighbourhood parks. She thrives on social contact, interactive play, and positive reinforcement.

We do not have fscd. Up until 8 months ago, he was doing great. I think I might just need a few days to catch my breath and look after my own mental health needs. I am still not sure I want to do this as I do not want to hurt the attachment but I am struggling. If I did this, I would need it to be outside of our home. We would have to pay privately as we don’t have fscd so price might be an issue. We shall see.
$728 - $9363 days, 40 Hr.
