looking for full time healthcare worker with autism 33 years adult

by Beth • Edmonton
Alexander is verbal, meaning he can speak words, but he has difficulty communicating his own ideas or thoughts clearly. He often repeats words or phrases that he hears from others, which is common among individuals with autism. While he may not always express himself in full sentences, he can occasionally give short, appropriate responses like "okay" or "yes," especially when prompted. At times, he may make simple comments, such as saying "black," which could reflect something that caught his attention or is relevant to the situation. Most of the time, Alexander relies on body language to communicate his feelings or preferences. He may use gestures like pointing, nodding, or shaking his head to indicate approval or disapproval. His facial expressions and posture also play a significant role in helping others understand how he feels. For example, if he likes something, he might show a smile or look interested, while if he dislikes something, he might pull back or look frustrated. Although verbal communication is challenging for him, his body language and occasional verbal responses help convey his thoughts and emotions.

This young man is dear to our hearts and we have him full time as the parents are not in the picture. He is usually very happy, sometimes gets frustrated and will slap his head when he does not want to do things. He is regimented has anxiety, is OCD and requires a person with training and lots of patience. The requirement would be to help him with his school work, he is a good swimmer and loves to swim so there would be an opportunity to take him on outings to swimming, play parks, sledding, library etc. Would also involve getting him ready for bedtime.
