Matteson family needs help with homeschool for 1st and 6th graders.

They go to school Mondays and Wednesdays and we homeschool the rest of the week. My son is 7 (1st grade) and needs a little extra help learning to read. He lacks confidence and Im struggling to help him. My daughter is 5 (kindergarten) and Id like her to get a good start on reading.

This is for myself. I have been studying Spanish for years with a goal of full fluency. I am currently at a B1 level. I would like to be at a C2 by the end of 2025 and be able to perform my job in both English and Spanish. If weekly sessions aren't sufficient for that goal, I am open to doing extra suggested practice work between sessions to achieve my goal. I may also want to include my daughters at some point or move to having a tutor for the two of them after I've hit my goals. (Ages 8 and 14) Both are very much beginners. Not looking to start until February as we have some other things to get out of the way.

My daughter needs some simple practice with reading comprehension & memorizing her multiplication tables. I think she would have more fun with a tutor than with me (her boring mother). We're hoping for twice per week. Monday and Wednesday is ideal, but Friday is okay too. A good match for our daughter would be someone who is gentle and kind with a sense of humor.
