Hello! My daughter is in 6th grade but was placed in a double accelerated program, which means she is taking 8th grade pre-algebra. I am not sure if she is having issues grasping, or if it’s the teacher/class that is the issue, but we are looking for a long-term pre-algebra tutor. (Her entire class retakes the same tests 2-3 times because the entire class will score below 60%. My daughter and many of the kids were previously straight A honor/GATE students) We had a care. com tutor for 3 years previously, but they moved to a new state last summer. My daughter is shy and refused to get a new tutor at the beginning of the year because she really liked the previous tutor but she has now agreed to try meeting someone else. This has the potential to be a flexible position for 5-25 hours a week (read on!). I have a bright and funny homeschooled 18-year-old with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia who utilizes a personal support worker (PSW). I am looking for a new PSW for 20-25 hours a week but I am also open to having a dedicated tutor for a smaller number of hours (minimum 5 hours maybe?). Specifically, I would want someone who can help support his academic work (writing, reading) and who potentially can help him with organization and planning. This is a developing position so it's more about finding the right fit. My son loves history, politics, and humor. He loves learning and loves music. We are a secular and liberal leaning family.
