Social therapy?
By Katrina K. on Mon Jun 6, 2011 at 11:03 AM EDT
I saw a great question from Kris C. and wanted to start a new chain.

She said:

My son is 4YO and sounds like many of your children. We are doing OT, ST with him and just finished round 2 of thomatis. What types of OT and PT are your children doing? What kind of social therapy are you doing? Any insight would be appreciated.

Have you ever tried the Berard Method of auditory integration training? My son has received wonderful outcomes. This program is ten days in length. Look at ideatrainingcenter.com or my site at listentolearn.biz. I opened this business because of the breakthrough outcomes he rec'd.

My son is participating in 8-week long (meet once weekly) social skills group through Little Friends, Inc. in Naperville. They have really experienced people working with these kids. Otherwise, we've tried other social skills groups, but without the level of success that we've been getting at Little Friends. Another place you may want to try, if you are not against commuting, is Haley's Playground, Inc. It's a non-profit organization. It was started by an OT mom, named Jackie Olson. She's running a really good group with many peer volunteers for young children to older teens. They're located in North Aurora, off I-88.

How about cognitive behavior therapy?

I hope this is helpful. May

Okay, I have only learned that when people read this they can be living anywhere and not just in my neck of the woods. I live in Illinois. So, please disregard my previous post if you do not live here in Illinois or anywhere near the Chicago-land area.

I am just learning how to use this form of communication and my thinking is not world-wide. After this discovery, I know now how it works. I apologize if I misled anyone. It was not my intention. Thank you for your understanding. May
