Kalihi Christian School is a church-sponsored school located in Honolulu, unlike anywhere else on the island. Our staff is committed to academic excellence and teaching students how to apply the truths of God's Word to every aspect of life. We intentionally designed our classes to be a place that is welcoming, nurturing, and academically stimulating. Our environment is such that each child will feel loved, unique, and part of a large family. Our entire program has been developed from a Christian worldview, planting seeds of faith in children throughout the year. We believe in educating the whole child: spiritually, socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually, and our activities emphasize this approach. The students participate in a weekly chapel time where they study bible stories more in-depth and have a special worship time with our on-campus pastors. Biblical principles are integrated into every subject taught in our school. We use the Abeka curriculum to teach phonics, reading, language, poetry, writing, and math. The Abeka curriculum features a traditional approach to teaching and learning, cross-subject integration, spiral review, and plenty of hands-on activities to prepare children for a lifetime of learning. The daily schedule is structured and consists of teacher-directed activities, group circle times, learning centers, outdoor play, and free play. Creativity is a crucial component of lessons and daily activities in our programs and is expressed through art, music, drama, and physical education.
