At Broadway Children's School, our play-based programs reflect the belief that every child is unique and special, and we nurture and encourage that sense of individuality so that each child will develop within his or her own framework. In a caring and playful environment, we work to help each child develop competency in the social, emotional, intellectual, creative selves that make the whole child. We combine child-centered learning with parent enrichment, cultivating a committed community that offers families a bedrock of support, knowledge-sharing and friendship. We strive to serve a school community that reflects and celebrates the unique and beautiful diversity of the East Bay. It is a wonderful place to learn and grow together! Our indoor space is broken up into many diverse learning spaces for children to explore, and many activities (art, sensory activities, play sets, and pretend play) vary by day. Our large outdoor yard includes play structures, a bike path (with bikes and scooters), a playhouse, a sand area, a jumping tire, and other rotating activities such as a water table, extra large building blocks, tunnels, etc. Students must generally be the age indicated by September 1. The regular school year runs from late August to early June. (Annual tuition amounts listed are for the regular school year programs.) We also offer a Summer School program for current students, usually for five weeks during the summer. Our 4-year-old class (Rainbow Room) meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to noon, with optional extended care from noon to 3. Three teachers (with additional support from the School Director) supervise up to 21 children in this program. Annual tuition for 2022-2023 is $6250, payable in ten monthly installments, with an annual fee of $175. Scheduled extended care is $12.50/hour. Three-year-olds can be enrolled in one of two (Sunshine Room) classes; one meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the other on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, both from 9 AM to noon, with optional extended care from noon to 3. Two teachers (with additional support from the School Director) supervise up to 12 children in each class. Annual tuition for 2022-2023 is $4500 for Tu/Th and $6250 for MWF, payable in ten monthly installments, with an annual fee of $125 or $175. Scheduled extended care is $12.50/hour. Our 2-year-old and parent program (PACT) meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Regular parent/caregiver attendance and involvement is an important part of the PACT program. Parents take turns working alongside teachers in the classroom, and there is a weekly parent support and education meeting on Thursday mornings. Parents/caregivers can also enjoy some free time on Tuesdays that they are not signed up to stay and help. Annual tuition for 2022-2023 is $3250, payable in ten monthly installments, with an annual fee of $100.
