Part Time Nanny vs AuPair

This summer my office closed and thus I began working from home. It was something that I didn't want to do because my job is often very intense, requires some travel and the time I spent driving home from the office was my disconnect time from work to get into "Mommy" mode. It's not a 9-5 by any stretch of the imagination. Little did I know how much I would enjoy working from home because now I get to have a more active role in my kids day. I've been taking my daughters (7 & 11) to school every morning for the past 2 years and having our nanny pick them up and take them to activities etc. At the end of the school year I decided it was time to part ways with our nanny and look for someone else. I believe God gives you what you need when you need it. The last month of summer I had planned for our new nanny to take care of the girls during the day(pool, park etc). Well...that didn't go so well. She lasted a week. So since the end of summer I take the girls to school, pick them up, take them to activities and everything in between. I'm the happiest I've been in a while because of the quality time I get to share with my girls. Well it is about time for the pace of work to pick up again. So I'm trying to decide should do I hire an AuPair who will be more flexible especially if I need to leave for work @ 5a or hire someone to help in the afternoons only or.I've never had a live in anything and I like my privacy. But I can't help but wonder the benefits of an AuPair and the cultural experience my daughters will get. Then I wonder which is more cost effective. I appreciate any ideas and points of view you can share. Does anyone have or had an Au Pair? If so what was it like? I wish I could keep going at the pace that I am without having to hire anyone but logically I know I need the help. I can't rely on their father or other families much nor do I want to wear out my friends. Heck, I would like to go out with my friends some time. Sorry for being so long but I wanted to try to give a full picture :-) Thanks

Hi, I was in an AuPair program for two years, the first company was a desaster, really bad, the girl was sent back home and I got 17 DVD's stolen, luckly for me the company took care of that and she returned most of them to me (15). the second company I was with was a better one, I took my time picking a girl and a big pice of advice, "do not, by any means" pick a girl that is already in the country, they become " picky and needy, and demanding, more than you can imagine, they are young girls ready to party. My first coince was a girl that have only 3 months left with the program, so I thougt it would be a nice time to try and see if I can handle a live in person and how the finances will work "I WAS VERY WRONG". the second one was a brand newly arrived young girl very sweet, we do stil l chat in the internet, she stayed with me 13 months, the max time without renewing the contract, she whent to Chicago with friends to party, and whent back home.... My 3rd experience was not good either, she stayed with me 2 months adn I found out she had cancer and had many health issues that where a problem in my house. Bottom line,.... you just have to be lucky and choose very wisely the company you will work with and the girl you will pick. Good luck! Connie

holy prophet is one spiritual man i would forever give regards to, he brought my husband back to me after my old friend tried to blackmail me to take my husband and made him divorce me with wrong accusation. But this holy prophet did a prayer that resolved issues with my husband and push the other lady far away from him. I am happy to have my husband back, this prophet is great. his email is holyprophet8@gmail.com, he really surprised me.
