Our staff is engaging and caring, willing to learn new skills and willing to go the extra mile for any of our families or staff. Edmonds Lutheran Church has a mission to help our center thrive and provide quality care to as many families as we possibly can. ELLC is welcoming of all family structures and our curriculum program is secular with optional developmentally appropriate spiritual teaching. Child care
ABC Learning Center is a Childcare, Pre-School and Pre K readiness program offering affordable child care services. Our Learning Center programs are guided by educational professionals in a nurturing environment. We use a hands-on approach to learning that involves the child in a rich and diverse group of activities. Our child care center accommodates working parents and is a family based center child care. Meaning everyone here is family and our centers environment gives children the feeling of family, education and safety. Infant: Our curriculum is developed to work with each infant individually on each skill set, at their pace, to encourage continued growth and development. We will begin transitioning your infant to our Toddler program at 11 months. When we have reached that time, we will notify you with a transition letter, which will include the details of how our transition will work, to make the transition for both you and your infant enjoyable and successful. Toddler: At our center, we strongly encourage the children to learn independent skills, but we are always there to lend a helping hand. Development of crucial skills such as zipping up their jacket, putting on their shoes, and washing their hands are practiced daily. Each child is different, but we typically begin the potty training process anywhere between 18-24 months and we ask that parent supply extra underwear and cloths. We always keep you updated on your child's progress, and try to build the best communication between the parent and teacher. Preschool/PreK: We continue to work on recognizing letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, however we no longer review them alphabetically or numerically, we now recognize them by site. We will be able to identify shapes, count from 1 to 20, compare and classify objects. We will work both independently and in group activities. Social and emotional growth is amazing as they prepare to move on to their next school experience. We continue to offer Learning Center experience and our teacher directive curriculum becomes more structured, to allow projects that can extend over days. With teacher directive projects, the curriculum challenges the students to find answers, problem solve and use the learning centers to continue with hands on experiences in areas of literacy, math and science. School Age: Our School Age Program is an extension of our other program descriptions. We continue to offer Learning Center opportunities, for the School Agers.

What is purposeful play? Play is something every human understands, but a term that is hard to define. Play is a quality of intensity and joy in an activity. Play transforms the everyday into the extraordinary. Play enhances and heightens an experience, setting it into the mind and making it a part of us. This is the quality that makes play most fascinating. Play is a form of learning for children as well as adults that is built in to the structure of our DNA. At Small Faces we believe that play is the most important way children interact with their environment and create knowledge. The staff of Small Faces is charged with facilitating, participating in, observing, documenting and reflecting on play. The presence of trained staff gives play an explicit purpose whose goal is to encourage the Social-Emotional, Physical, Creative and Cognitive development of the children in our care. As a facilitator and participant in play, staff at Small Faces design rich environments and engage in activities with children, guiding and encouraging play without controlling it. The staff of Small Faces observes, documents and reflects upon children at play to better plan and design future elements of curriculum for both individuals and groups. Part of each day at Small Faces is dedicated to unstructured play. While the importance of structured play is easily recognized, we believe that unstructured play is essential to the development of young children. A study by the American Academy of Pediatrics, “The Importance of Play in Promoting Healthy Child Development and Maintaining Strong Parent- Child Bonds” (Ginsburg, 2006) states: “free and unstructured play is healthy and – in fact – essential for helping children reach important social, emotional, and cognitive developmental milestones as well as helping them manage stress and become resilient.”

I am a small in home licensed daycare. I'm open Monday to Thursday with occasional Fridays as well. My hours are 7:30AM to 5:30PM, with Fridays being 8am to 4pm. I offer full-time and part-time slots for children. For full-time I require a minimum of two days. Rates depend on age and how many days a week your child is coming. I do have discounts available for siblings both enrolling. And currently for the month of October I am waiving the registration fee for new families. I have amazing references upon request. Along with a parent handbook that gives more info on my daycare. I love having a small group of kids to focus on and expand on their imagination and learning. We do a lot of exploring outside as I have a huge fenced backyard for the kids to learn and play in. Following all Covid protocols required by the local health department. I am also fully vaccinated. I can do in person tours as well as virtual ones. I look forward to hearing from you!

We have 5 classes serving children 12 months to 4 years. Our preschool classes share the same space and teacher. We are part of the North Seattle College (NSC) Co-operative Preschool program which means parent education is a big part of our school. Cooperative preschool is a wonderful way to introduce children to early learning and for parents to learn and grow as well. Preschool is a time for your child to explore, engage and encounter. Preschool allows children to be exposed to new friends, new challenges and new ideas. Between the ages of one and four, children experience many changes and it is exciting to be part of their first learning experiences. Teacher Janice designs the curriculum, using cooperative and creative play to enhance social, emotional and intellectual development.

I currently care for a 10 month old and a 14 month old. I'm looking for one more child that needs part time care on Tuesdays and Thursdays to be a part of "our family" in our kid friendly, clean, safe, spacious home. We have a cheerful inviting playroom and a big fenced in grassy backyard. Fun learning and story times are planned and weekly field trip outings are taken either on foot to local parks or driving to fun kid hot spots. What sets me apart from other in-home childcare centers is that I don't consider it to be a "daycare" primarily for two reasons. I do not have more than 3 children at a time. This allows me to give each child more one-on-one attention and also allows me to go on outings with them. The second reason being is when you walk into our house, it feels like a home, not like a typical noisy daycare with swarms of children. One of my greatest assets as a childcare provider is that I am a mom. Being a mom gives me the best childcare experience there is with an instinctual quality that mothers possess. My husband and I have 3 amazing school aged children. They are in school all day and so will not be present for most of my working hours.
