Although I have no paid experience, I have about 4 years of personal experience. I was the caregiver for my Mother-in-law. She was in a car accident and suffered a TBI, (traumatic brain injury). She recovered from extensive physical injuries, but all of the sudden she needed full time care including constant supervision. She was confused most of the time, and often very sad. Sometimes angry. Her behavior at many times were very similar to that of a person with dementia and/or alzheimer's. I dressed her, bathed her and performed basic hygiene, took her to doctors appointments and administered medication. She was unable to recognize when she needed to relieve herself, but was very physically fit and strong. I took care of her every need, as well as both of my kids. She loved to be outside, and to pet her cat. Her cat was very comforting to her. She was often very playful and sweet, but would sometimes almost "shut down" in a sense.
