About Susan

I have been working and teaching children from infant - high school for the past 20 years. I have also raised two beautiful children of my own! Currently I work with families in unique situations such as needing part-time, temporary, seasonal, vacation or overnight care. My journey with children began in a preschool setting in my early 20's. From there I went on to become a nanny while attending De Anza College in CA where I received an Early Childhood Degree that has opened many doors throughout the years. I worked as a teachers assistant in a special needs classroom for approximately 2 years in Los Altos, CA . When I moved with my family to Washington State in 1993, I opened a daycare in my home so that I could be home with my son who was 1 year at that time. It has been 20 years ago since I closed the daycare and those children are amazing individuals who are still in touch with me today! I have worked on and off as a teacher and also attended to student testing in the home school partnership program, Family Learning Center for approximately 7 years. I am also an artist and a Certified Women's Life Coach. I feel I am able to utilize my teaching, art and communication skills with your child in a unique relationship. Art opens so many doors in a child's world when they are young and unsure of their "words" as well as an older child who is facing many different choices in the world today. I have seen this time and again with my own children growing up! I also have been teaching art to children in Primary School in a the town of Sayulita, Mexico over the past 5 years. I have posted a couple photos for you to view. :) I feel I am patient, compassionate, understanding, balanced, creative, energetic and know what a parent would want when they could not be with their child for an extended amount of time.:) I have had trouble downloading my actual resume and reviews on Care. com.
