Experience: 6 yrs
Throughout my work history, I have assisted many students in various levels and subjects. My start in tutoring came as an assistant in a Learning Resource Center in college helping students with disabilities prepare for class assignments and tests. While I was still in college, I became a private tutor for a 5th grader and later a college sophomore. In the summer between graduation and starting my year as a teacher, I tutored with Strides in Greenville, SC. There I employed their techniques for helping children struggling with reading and math. Following college, I've had other students from elementary to high school whom have needed help achieving the next level academically. My degrees are in Special Education so I have plenty of experience working with students who have disabilities. Have been tutoring off and on since 2015. I currently tutor many different ages and subjects via zoom.

Stephanie tutored for in 2007, after training for several hours to become an instructor. Potentials is a demanding program for increasing reading and math skills in students who have failed to learn to read in school. She improved much over the period of her employment, having taught a variety of students in elementary, middle school, and high school for 136 hours. Her location was off-site from the main office, and so she was responsible to work independently, including organizing her students schedules, handling payments and submitting them to the office, interfacing with parents, and making progress with her students. We reviewed her student records regularly to document progress, and were satisfied with her work. The parents and students were also pleased with Stephanie s work. The skills we valued most with Stephanie were: 1. Excellent rapport with her students and parents 2. Efficient use of Potentials techniques, resulting in reading and math progress 3. Accurate assessment of progress of students, according to program 4. Skilled interaction with families from a variety of income levels 5. Understanding of how learning disabilities affect learning 6. Responsible management of materials and payments 7. Ability to start new students in the program, following our design for lessons.
