I have been caring for the elderly since 1996. Being a home health aide is my calling. I have became an independent provider, contracted through the Ohio Job and Family Services and the Board of MRDD (mental retardation developmental disabilities). My mom was sick with breast cancer, and my sisters and I decided that we would not put our mother in a nursing home. As a team, we took care of her for two years. She passed away in 1994. At that point, I realized how much it meant for me to take care of people who wanted to stay in their homes in their final days of life, or those just needing in-home care.
