About Serina

I like tutoring because it hits on the aspect of teaching I received the most joy from which was impacting student performance. I love monitoring performance data and finding the levers I need to tweak to drive improvement. I also love making believers out of non-believers. I am a big fan of "I told you so" when it comes to proving to a learner that they can in fact do the difficult thing. I started tutoring as a child when friends would come to me for help. This drove me into the field of education. I picked up tutoring on the side because I love one and one and small group work. I particularly enjoy teaching reading fluency and comprehension. I am trained in Lindamood-Bell's Seeing Stars, Visualizing & Verbalizing and On Cloud 9. I hold valid teaching credentials in AZ and CA including a special education and autism authorization. I have a valid level 1 fingerprint clearance card and am CPR certified.
