My experience was with a woman with MS. She was bedridden with a catheter and required bed baths. Most of my experience is with a man that is bed ridden, pubic catheter(that I change monthly)a mickey button for feeding through a gastric tube(changed monthly) suctioning and care of his trach site. Administering medications, including suppositories and clean up thereafter. Transportation in wheelchair and van to medical appointments and some recreational activities. Although this client is not elderly, he is severely disabled, unable to speak. I seem to share with the disabled, elderly and children, a unique ability to understand their unspoken needs and being a comfort to them as they are cared for. I also do housekeeping and run errands.
