I began my nursing career with children and then had 6 of my own and now 3 grandchildren. Along the way I was able to homeschool them and currently teaching my 2 youngest children. As I persevere with one of my youngest who has had vision problems and reading delays, it came to mind that maybe there are students in my area who need additional reading or schoolwork support. Maybe you are a parent needing someone to come alongside? There is no single way to help a child who struggles but it is helpful to find tools that make a difference just for them. I am familiar with Orton Gillingham Methods for Reading and Spelling and also using helpful aids to make math doable. Sometimes having another adult to spend focused time one on one is the encouragement needed to move forward. I would plan time each week to meet for 1 hour and up to three times a week or as decided between myself and parent(s). I am offering this service out of my home for now and not able to travel.
