About Rachael

I am passionate about helping students learn to read and build the skills that will help them throughout life. I love seeing students' excitement and joy when they realize they can read a book on their own and watching their confidence grow. I have eight years of experience in the classroom (K-2) teaching all subjects and 3+ years of tutoring. I use my knowledge gained from teaching reading to assess my learners and create individualized lesson plans to meet their needs. My lessons are 40 minutes long; I find 40 minutes is the perfect amount of time to hold the student's attention so they retain more learning. I attained my Master's Degree in Elementary Education State University and received my certification for Texas Reading Academies. I primarily tutor in reading and phonics instruction, but I have also helped students with kindergarten readiness. My tutoring philosophy is that there is always something new to learn for everyone, and challenges are exciting!
