Hi! My name is Quinn and I am a senior aquatic biology major at UCSB. I am a nationally registered EMT and work as a California State Lifeguard every summer. Part of the job is being an instructor for a summer camp program called Junior Lifeguards. We teach kids from age 9-15 everything ranging from how to get out of a rip current to managing bleeding control. Participants in the program are dropped off by their parents at the beach at 9 a.m. and picked up at 2 p.m. every week day during the summer. I have been an instructor in this program for 5 years now and last year I was promoted to "beach lead" in which I essentially managed the entire program of 130 kids and their instructors every day. Through being an instructor in this program every summer, I have developed a passion for teaching kids and helping them learn to respect, care, and have fun in the natural world. I am the oldest sibling of three and grew up doing my fair share of sibling babysitting over the years as well.
