About Melanie

I developed a passion for childcare at 12 while caring for children during church events and retreats. Although I left the church at 16, my love for working with kids remained. In 2023, I began working at a private school in Bed-Stuy, caring for children ages 2-5 in after-school care. I collaborated with staff and parents to create a safe, enriching environment while balancing structured and free play. That summer, I led my own camp group, supervising children ages 2-3. I planned activities using the Reggio Emilia approach, ensured safety during offsite trips, and kept families engaged with regular updates. Now, I'm a lead Pre-K after-school teacher in the West Village, working with children ages 4-5. I facilitate hands-on art and science activities that encourage curiosity and fine motor skill development. I strive to create a nurturing space where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn!
