About Matilda

I know that working with kids means that you are acting as a lense for them to learn about how the world works, even in small ways. I consider my actions, and what effect they might have, carefully. My priorities are first to keep them safe, second to help them learn the skills they will need going forward, and third to make every day fun and exciting. I understand that certain types of drama are to be expected, and I allow kids room to make mistakes without judging them, while also talking through more mature ways to deal with whatever situation is the problem. I am prepared to deal with stubbornness, meltdowns, hissy fits, and sibling fights. More importantly, I try to take preventative measures before problems get out of hand. Overall, I try to take kids seriously, to engage with their natural curiosity, and to show them all the cool things, like how to make glue stick caps disappear, and how magnets work.
