Many people need help with daily tasks, whether they are seniors or people with special needs. They deserve respect, compassion and kindness. Many of them wish to remain in their own homes and preserve as much of their independence as possible. This is a noble goal! A companion caregiver can help them achieve that goal by providing assistance, as needed, with various daily tasks. Outside assistance can make a world of difference, both for the loved one in need and their family members. When independence is preserved, people retain their dignity and pride. I have witnessed this with my own parents, as well as with my young adult niece, who is autistic. Seeing their challenges has led me to rethink what it really means to make a difference.
