About Maria

I am a certified teacher with a reading endorsement and 10 years of teaching experience in the public school system. I use the UFLI Foundations program to teach phonics skills and help with spelling, decoding, and reading fluency. When I am not busy teaching, I am a mom to 4 young kids. I like tutoring because I am passionate about helping students become successful readers. I started tutoring when I found a teaching opportunity that focuses on reading instruction in my school district. In my spare time, I like to read, follow Cleveland sports teams, go to parks and zoos with my kids. One thing you should know about me is that I am highly trained and experienced in foundational reading instruction. My skills include explicit and systematic phonemic awareness and phonics instruction.
