About Makia

Hi! I'm Kiya, with 7 years of paid childcare experience. I've been a nanny for children 6 months to 8 years old, a daycare teacher at a Portuguese immersion school for infants to 4-year-olds, and a camp counselor for middle schoolers at band camp. I also offer music lessons as an oboist. I love the outdoors as a Pacific Northwesterner, though I've lived in the Midwest and appreciate Southern hospitality. I've cared for my 3 autistic cousins, each with different needs, giving me valuable experience in supporting children with autism. I've also cared for many unique pets. I find cleaning therapeutic. I offer light cooking as well. I'm expecting my first child in September, and as an expecting mother, I combine the knowledge from books with real-life experiences to provide thoughtful, loving care.
