About Katherine

Hello! My name is Katie and I have joined Care in search of the occasional date night family. I already have a full time summer nanny position, but am willing to babysit for a family or two when they need a night out. I have a wide range of experience in babysitting and nannying in the last 15 years. When I was much younger, I started out babysitting for my little sisters (twins) and my mom's friend's twins who were a boy & girl. As I got older, I became a Nanny through "College Nannies and Tutors." My first family had a 2-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. We would play all sorts of "house" like games, puzzles, arts & crafts, etc. I also cooked dinner for them and put the youngest down to bed before the parents got home from work. Even after moving away for college, I'd do date nights when I came home and after I graduated over the next 7 years! After I graduated college, I became a teacher. I started teaching Pre-K at a Early Childhood Center. Then I decided that I wanted to be in the public schools. After a year of substitute teaching, I got a summer job Nannying for a family with a 2-year-old boy and 6-year-old boy. They were wonderful and we got along great. They love animals as much as I do! We frequently had animal themes for arts & crafts, games, snack time, field trips, etc. I also helped the oldest with his reading and math everyday over the summer. During the following school year, as a substitute teacher, I also became an "on-call" nanny and would work a couple times a week babysitting for families who needed someone. The family I babysat the most for on date nights had a 3-year-old boy and 5-year-old boy. We had a strong bond and always had fun. Then the next summer I was with the same family as the summer before. Most of my experience is in the age range of 2-10 years old. These are the ages I prefer. However, as a substitute teacher, I have experience working with older children as well.
