I'm 30 yrs old and live in Bloomington. I came to the U. S. in 2015 as part of an Au Pair program. While in the program I nannied for a 3 yr old boy and twin 2 yr old girls. After leaving the program, I was a nanny in Minneapolis for a 5 mo. old boy and was with them for 1 year until they relocated to New Prague. I then joined a family in Edina with twin boys for 2 years until they went to preschool. I'm currently with a family of 2 girls for the past 5 years (8 wks old till 5+) who had some job changes and one will be staying home and their 5 yr old is full-time school now. Through all this, I've fallen in love with Minnesota, became a U.S. citizen, got married, a dog, a cabin and learned to enjoy all things Minnesotan... though I much prefer El Salvador's heat! I pride myself on reliability and trustworthiness as well as feel I have a knack and love for children. I have been part of multiple families and have learned how/where my role fits in best and aim to help wherever I can!

We've been incredibly lucky to have Karla as our full-time nanny for the past 5+ years, starting in Oct/Nov 2018 with our 8 week old daughter (Sorry Paula G, we must have met her around the same time). It's a bittersweet moment writing this review because Karla has been more than just a nanny; she's been a part of our family. Karla's influence on our daughter is profound. It's amazing to see how many of her skills, traits, and behaviors can be traced directly back to Karla's nurturing. She has a superb delivery and way of instilling discipline – it's gentle, yet firm and always fair – our daughter respects her immensely and knows ,when Karla says something, she means it and that’s the end of it. We often joke that we wish we had the same effect on our daughter. We got compliments about how outgoing, respectful, and friendly our daughter is despite both me and my spouse being introverts; that’s due to Karla. She’s always been a source of encouragement to our daughter to walk up to kids on the playground and just boldly introduce herself and ask to play; or to try new things and be brave. Karla was the one getting in the pool for infant and toddler swimming classes. Karla was the one taking her to ValleyFair, and the museums, and the zoos, seeing Santa, the pool, the beach, and playdates with her network of nanny friends, introducing her to new foods, teaching Spanish, taking our daughter to HER cabin for a weekend trip. She is NOT the Nanny that stays inside and stares at a phone and hopes the child plays by itself. She would shop for clothes and she’d let us know of things she thought our daughter might like or want. She’d run to Target and grocery (we got her a credit card). She’s very trustworthy and takes your confidences and trust seriously. She’s tackled organization projects in the kid’s room, the pantry, the basement. She’s helped decorate for the holidays and on and on. She is what you would imagine a professional Nanny should be in terms of taking her job and all those associated responsibilities seriously. She’s not a drinker; she’s not a smoker; she’s not a partier, she’s not a potty mouth. She's always presentable and not flashy. She sends us pictures throughout the days of the activities and cuteness so we don't miss it all. She’s been unbelievably reliable. If she’s going to be late to show up, it was communicated well in advance. Excluding pre-planned things, I can only think of one instance where she was ‘unannounced' late. In the FIVE full-time years, she was a few minutes late ONCE and we started to worry that something bad had happened to her…and I mean she was like FOUR minutes late and it was soooo odd to us, that was our first thought. Mind you, this is amidst the backdrop of our neighbors and friends cycling through several Nannies and hearing their horror stories of sleeping or unreliability or messy etc etc. We’ve taken her on trips with us and she’s stayed over at our house if we had a overnight trip. She’s been to every birthday party of our daughter’s. More than anything, Karla's warmth and caring nature stand out. We've watched our daughter flourish under her care, and we can't thank Karla enough for the incredible role she's played in her life. It's hard to capture in words just how grateful and lucky we are to have had Karla with us and as I started with, it’s a bittersweet task to have to sit here and try to boil it all down to a review. My company went through some re-org changes recently, and we’ve had a 2nd child, and it just makes sense for our family for me to stay home for a few years --otherwise we’d try to keep her until the kids went to college for pete’s sake. She's been an amazing contributor to our family, and any family would be similarly lucky to have her.
