This is the background check we require for all caregivers.
Experience: 1 yr
We all know that our society often forgets or discounts seniors. My first best friend was my Great Grandmother and so luckily I Iearned the value of intergenerational friendships early on! I was a live-in care-taker in a senior home and it was one of the most challenging and beautiful experiences of my life. It is never easy seeing people go through pain or seeing people frustrated by losing some of their independence, but I really enjoyed the moments when I was able to give them some relief, support, and joy. I've learned that often it is the simple things that become so much more important as we age. Particularly food. I love to cook and would love to bring a little deliciousness to your loved one's life. The other things I've learned that are important when caregiving are: Be patient (don't be in a hurry, be willing to repeat yourself, and be calm when someone is in pain). Be a good listener (being able to follow directions and listening to stories from the past).

It is my privilege to recommend Jessica as a caregiver for your senior family member. Jess took wonderful care of my dad, G, at home, allowing him to stay in my parent's house for longer than he would have been able to stay otherwise. That made my dad very happy and was a blessing to the entire family, ensuring my mom could still work. Jess is extremely compassionate and completely trustworthy. My dad suffered from early onset dementia, and couldn't be alone at home and wasn't ready to live in a memory care unit. She took my dad on "adventures" to see waterfalls, parks, and neat sites around the city. My dad always talked about his drives with her with excitement and a light in his eyes. She was exactly what he needed at that time. She had amazing ability to sit and listen to his endless stories, which was exactly what he needed. I cannot recommend Jess enough. She is very intuitive and empathetic. She is thoughtful and caring, & has an amazing way with connecting w/seniors
