I am an experienced tutor for learners of all ages. I have been a full-time tutor since 2009, and have worked with hundreds of clients, ranging from K -- adult. I have a BS in Ed and I am state certified. I am also Montessori (AMS) certified for Elem I, Elem II, and Head of School. Before becoming a full-time tutor, I was a classroom teacher for 15+ years. I specialize in making concepts clear and meaningful by adapting my tutoring to each student's individual learning style. I use many hands-on materials and provide concise notes to give the learner the tools to be able remember and apply the material we have worked on. I tailor the tutoring to each learner's experiences. A first grader learning to read, a middle-school student struggling with algebra, a high school student preparing for SAT's, and an adult learner heading back to college have very different needs. What makes me unique is that I meet each and every student at his/her own level.

My son, R., is 22 years old and has a learning disorder. I hired Jennifer Y. to tutor R. on the DMV handbook in preparation for the written DMV test. Jennifer was very patient and came up with some creative teaching methods such as drawing out certain traffic situations and using a vocabulary list to learn and understand DMV terms. I highly recommend Jennifer for all types of tutoring as she is excellent at explaining concepts and making sure the student understands before moving on. Thank you Jennifer for all you do!
