About Emma

As a Teaching Fellow and Assistant at UNC, I have provided one-on-one and group instruction in courses like Sociology of Migration, Social and Economic Justice, and Social Stratification. I create personalized lesson plans and adapt my teaching methods to meet each student's needs. My teaching philosophy is rooted in kindness, active learning, and fostering an inclusive environment, ensuring students engage with the material as both consumers and producers of knowledge. Since 2020, I have also mentored high school students through Crosby Scholars, helping with college applications and test preparation. This holistic approach focuses on developing foundational skills and critical thinking. My experience prepares me to support students in standardized test preparation, including the SAT and ACT, while nurturing their creativity and executive skills.
