About Elaine

I am a former elementary teacher with 37 years experience who has recently stepped away from formal education. I have taught kindergarten (6 years), third grade (7 years), fifth grade (19 years), seventh grade math and Algebra 1 (1 year). I especially love teaching math for grades K-8! I have tutored students who have been adopted from foreign countries, and I've taught them to read, write, and converse in English. I have been an elementary principal. I am extremely effective at making challenging concepts easy for students to grasp. I love the challenge of identifying why a student is struggling and turning the difficulty into a learning opportunity. Every student can learn! It's simply a matter of identifying the child's learning style and adjusting the instruction to fit. I currently work as a nanny Monday through Thursday, 8 am-5 p.m. I am usually available to tutor in the evenings and on Fridays.
