I believe that when a child is struggling with a subject it is not because they are incapable; it's because the appropriate connection has yet to be made. I have found that through questioning and watching a child work, I'm able to find out where the misconnect is happening and help them "turn the light on." I love to use creative strategies to help children gain the skills needed to succeed. Helping children is a passion that developed from my own learning disability. I believe that this has given me special insight as to why disconnects happen. It is the reason I got my degree in education. I am proud that I graduated Summa Cum Laude because it shows my dedication to giving my best to my students. The only reason I'm not currently in the classroom is because I'm not certified to teach in Texas. I've also found that I prefer working one-on-one with children as long as necessary for them to grasp a concept. That is not possible in the classroom.
