Hi, I'm Deborah (call me Mel) and I am a nanny with 15+ years of experience with newborns, toddlers, and children. I'm originally from Utah and I started out taking care of the family (I'm up to 13 nieces and nephews now!) and moved on to being a nanny for a neighbor. I cared for their six children for seven years and was present for the arrival of numbers five and six. I handled newborn care, assisted with homework, and helped teach things like chores and manners. I moved on (literally) to Kansas where I was a nanny for an adorable infant for about 8 months. I moved on from the family due to the baby's aunt being able to take over care. Since then I moved to Maryland and have spent 10 months caring for an infant-now-toddler. She was recently accepted into daycare, starting in January. Every child I care for holds a special place in my heart and I love every single one. I am also fully vaccinated, boosted, and flu shot.

WOWWW so when my daughter got into daycare and we let Deborah/Mel go, I left her a glowing letter of recommendation - I see now that I made a mistake and should have left a review here also! Mel was AH. MAZING. With my daughter, and while daycare was the right choice long-term for my child's socialization and well-being, we miss Mel a lot and keep in touch, despite us now living in MA! She was with us from 3 months to 11 months old, which was when we got into daycare - only reason we let her go, if daycare never panned out we would've kept her on indefinitely!!! She was versed in healthcare needs and DID RESEARCH HERSELF on what she didn't already know to be able to take care of our child's needs!, helped us learn to read labels so we could make sane food choices for our child, cleaned bottles, helped troubleshoot a stubborn diaper rash outbreak... even helped us all with baby sign which ended up helping a LOT!!! She was constantly engaged with my child - camera/audio feed says she was never on the phone for anything other than doctor's appointments, which was understandable enough, seeing as we had her from 8-5 every weekday. When she needed a day off to attend said doctor's appointment or anything else, we got plenty of warning!!! When we needed her early or I was running late getting home, she showed up/stayed without fuss!! She honored our requests for educational play and was able to give recommendations as our daughter aged and developmental needs changed - her experience shone through in so many ways! She also incorporated music into education and engagement, which we loved! We got a new Echo Dot partway through and it gave us a hard time for its first month, but rather than have our child go without music Mel used her phone's YouTube instead... forgivable in the event of the technical difficulties! Mel was quick thinking and able to adapt and pivot plans to make sure our child got what she needed and that the routine was maintained as much as possible, which is of course so key!!! MEL IS THE BEST!!! If I find my old letter of recommendation I'll copy-paste it here too!!! <3 <3 <3
