About Darby

My name is Darby and I have been working in child care for many years. I have three younger siblings who I cared for throughout their childhoods; two of whom are on the Autism spectrum. Throughout college, I nannied, tutored, worked as an Assistant Teacher at a daycare, and worked as a Paraeducator. I attended UCSB, where I received my Bachelor's in Sociology and Master's in Education, as well as my Education Specialist credential. I was then a public school Special Education teacher and Case Manager for three years. I've now decided to return to grad school to get my Master's in Psychology and become a Family Therapist. I am passionate about working with children and families. I am enthusiastic, creative, responsible, and organized in every role I take on. I am a problem-solver who is trained in behavior management and de-escalation techniques. I am skilled at making accommodations for those with learning differences, as well as developing strong relationships with those in my care.
