About Cynthia

I am certified to teach early childhood through fourth grade, special education, and English as a second language. When our sixth child started school, I went back to college and began a teaching career for 14 years. Teaching pre-k and first grade, I am now retired, but continued to be in education as a Preferred Substitute and then a fifth grade tutor in an intermediate public school mainly in math, English, reading and language arts, and science. My main philosophy is to meet children where they are and bring them to where they need to be by building on what they do know to develop the skills they need. My special education and early childhood skills allow me to understand different ways of learning, and to be persistent and try a different way to help a child learn.
