I have cared for both of my grandparents and still care for my grandpa (my grandma is in a nursing home now). I have assisted with bathroom needs and all household tasks, including cleaning, meal prep and shopping. I have been responsible for car trips with a cane, walker and motorized scooter. I have experience with hospital stays, rehab stays and returns home from both. I have knowledge of/experience with the following medical conditions/medications and am CPR/First Aid certified: dementia, diabetes, open wounds, strokes, anemia, blood thinner medications/side effects, AFib, toe amputation. I lived with my great uncle for 8 months before he had to move to a nursing home full time due to dementia. During this time, I learned how to mange a loved one with this disease, while making sure he had groceries, ate regularly and all home tasks and bills were completed and paid. He was physically very competent, but not mentally able to safely complete and remember to complete all tasks.
