About Austin

Hello! As the oldest sibling in my family, and being one of the oldest cousins of 17, I have grown up looking after and caring for my family members. In college, I studied psychology and conducted research on child and adolescent development, specifically looking at cognitive processes and spatial skills in elementary-aged children. I worked as a youth counselor in an after school program throughout college and eventually was offered a job to work as a supervisory paraprofessional. From there, I became a special education paraprofessional, working with children with behavioral and emotional disturbances. I have experience working with older kids also, as I was an assistant baseball coach for sophomores. After graduating from the University of Iowa, I decided to continue my education and work towards my teaching certification in elementary education. I have recently completed my program, and work as a district substitute during the school year.
