About Andrew

In the past 10 years I have cared for kids in four families. Most of my time has been with children from 9 months to 4 years old. The most important part of my job is to keep the children safe. I make sure there are consistent rules around things like the kitchen stove, electrical sockets, and crossing streets. After safety comes health. I like to develop a routine around naps and meals, listening to what parents want, and observing what works for the children. Beyond that I see my role as promoting growth. I play with the children, go places that children often enjoy, observe what they are interested in, and support those interests. Unless the weather is unbearable I always try to visit a playground. Libraries are a frequent stop as well. Reading and storytelling is often the highlight of my day. I am good at building play structures out of cushions (and cleaning up after). I know a handful of guitar chords and many children's songs.
