About Amy

I am a National Board Certified teacher with a Masters and Special Education Degree. I have 16 years of full-time teaching experience in public schools. I taught 6-7th grade Reading and Writing for 10 years and for the last 6 years have taught reading intervention and, most recently, Special Education; I work with K-5 graders to support math, reading, writing, and behavior goals. This means I have a deep knowledge of state standards and grade level expectations, the importance of aligning instruction with specific academic goals, and progress monitoring. Being a public school teacher, I understand the scope and sequence of skills as they progress through the grades and know what foundational skills are most crucial for students to succeed. If students are struggling with a traditional approach taught within the classroom, I have multiple ways to provide access points to skills by using various strategies. I can work with families to teach them strategies to help their child as well.
