About Alison

I have worked with children ranging in age from newborns to teens. I truly enjoy working with children and actively engaging with them in anything from arts and crafts, outdoor games, cooking, homework and projects, sports, nature exploration, to just about anything they're interested in. I have a background in art and work during the school year teaching art to middle school kids. I am college educated and nurture learning and intellectual/creative growth of all ages. I also have several years of full and part-time nanny experience. I have had many responsibilities in my previous positions: everything from pick ups and drops-offs to arranging play-dates and museums trips/outings, to cleaning, helping with laundry, meal preparation, and pet care. I am very helpful and do whatever I can to help out the families I work for. I also make sure the children I watch are well taken care of, are given my full attention, fed healthy meals, and receive appropriate levels of activity and experiences for learning and creative play. I am very good at picking up on children's moods and have studied child development and positive discipline techniques. I am dependable, flexible, mature, easygoing, empathetic, and have excellent communication skills and a good sense of humor. I don't talk down to children, instead, I try to communicate with them as the special individuals they are, and I try to understand their needs. I have many local references who (upon request) would be more than happy to speak with any parents interested in working with me. I am a good swimmer, CPR & First Aid certified, and have a reliable car and a clean driving record. I have worked with twins and multiples, as well as families up to 5 children, and larger groups of children during functions and play dates. I am available starting in June until the end of August.
