About Alexis

Hi! I'm Alexis, I am senior at Northwestern University studying English Literature. I have 4 years experience working for the university as a writing tutor for college students. I also have 2 years experience as a teaching assistant at a private school in the area, creating individual lesson plans to help students meet learning targets in math, reading, and writing. Additionally, I have recent experience in long term reading/writing home tutoring for 1st - 4rd graders. I want your child to think reading is fun! My approach involves: - Crafting lesson plans around books your child helps choose - Reading aloud to improve information processing skills - Book-based writing activities to strengthen writing skills and reading comprehension - Word games and informal spelling quizzes based on a weekly vocabulary list (to reinforce sight words, strengthen writing, and improve reading level). - Pre and post tests to gauge progress
