About Alexis

From 2018 to 2020 I taught Poetry and Drama at a liberal arts charter school. I primarily taught 6th grade, introducing students to writing concepts and mechanisms, classic and modern poets, and the practice of writing poetry in different forms. I also devoted time to helping students develop executive functioning skills, such as organization and study habits. Prior to this, I spent three years volunteering as a youth group mentor with my church . I am certified in CPR and AED and have experience in the non-profit world as well. I am currently taking a class to become certified at the international standard in TEFL. I am moving more into the field of freelance writing, and have experience working on essays as an advisor for a students thesis. My teaching philosophy is simple: everyone can learn, though they may learn differently, and has the right to be given the opportunity and access necessary to do so.
