About Abbey

I'd describe my personality as engaging, joyful, and curious! I like tutoring because as a past educator, I LOVED seeing those lightbulb moments for students. I'm looking for a job that is open to me teaching your child through whole brain learning and inquiry based learning - two of my favorites! My skills include teaching reading fundamentals such as phonemes, grammar, and phonics. I also enjoy teaching writing, and math! One thing you should know about me is I really have a joy and passion for kids and teaching! I loved being a teacher, but ultimately had to make the decision to leave the public education system. My heart has been missing kids so much so I believe tutoring/private teaching is a great opportunity to still use my passions! Also, I was honored as New Hanover County's Rookie of the Year in 2021 as a 2nd year teacher In my spare time, I like to walk my dogs with my husband, listen to live bands, hang out with friends, and spend time cooking!
