Hello, I am looking for someone with experience handling birds to care for my pet cockatiel Ziggy. You would come twice a day (morning & evening) and responsibilities would include replacing his food, water, and tray beneath his cage each morning, letting him out of his cage to roam around under supervision twice each day, putting his cover over his cage at night, and generally just keeping him company.
Name: Ziggy
Breed: Cockatiel
Age: 20
He is overall very kind once he gets to know you but can be a bit feisty at times and can be difficult to put him back in his cage if he doesn't want to go in. However, he's much more receptive to people that show confidence when handling him. FYI - Ziggy can also occasionally bite when upset. It is very easy to tell how he is feeling because he will sing when happy and squawk when angry.
It is important for Ziggy to get out of his cage twice a day for exercise. It's necessary to monitor him while he's out of his cage as he has been known to chew on wires and crawl into crevices and get lost if he isn't supervised.
He's fine with other birds but typically cats and dogs see him as prey so Ziggy does not interact with them.
