My father has Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's. He was recently admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, leaving him very weak. He is currently a moderate assist.
We are looking for someone to help with meal prep and feeding, ADLs, medication administration, bathing, cleaning him and his room/bathroom and helping him with his exercises (he will have home pt and ot).
He has a caretaker who will be there 830 a.m. till 330 p.m. on Friday and you will take over from her. From Friday night to Monday morning. You may occasionally have to do a load of laundry, wash his plates, clean his room/bathroom.
In addition to his bed, there is a bed for you and tv, table and chairs and a bathroom with shower for you to use. You will have access to the kitchen.
-discuss with his day caretaker what is left for him: meds, eating, bathing, cleaning etc.
-change his hearing aids to his night ones
-give medications
-check his purewick
-check if he needs to be cleaned
-feed him and clean up afterwards
-he goes to bed 7 to 8 p.m.
-determine if he needs to be turned
Then all you have to do is be there if he needs anything. He will have a bedside commode if he needs to have bm but otherwise the pure wick should take care of his incontinence.
We have 3 small friendly dogs.
