About who needs care: Marty is 84 years old and is relocating from her lifelong home in NJ. She enjoys tennis, singing in a choir, loves her animal (2 dogs and 4 cats). She enjoys reading, puzzles and games.
About the care needs: Marty's caregiver needs to be upbeat and observant. Her mental health has declined in the last year so she struggles with memory but is not at all close to needing memory care (yet), Her caretaker needs to love animals, be willing to walk the dogs, preferably with Marty. The caretaker must speak clear English! Patient yet firm. Marty can be very stubborn so her caretaker should be caring but definitely needs to be assertive. She needs to overlook Marty's mental health progression and update family often. Marty does not see herself as old and will not respond well to baby-ing. And yet, she will need to be discreetly reminded often of basic daily things such as eating, drinking water, showering. She takes no medications and has a strong and very vocal dislike of drs.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
