F/U on my son
By Patsy M. on Fri May 28, 2010 at 3:15 PM EDT
Hi everyone, just to f/u on my son's status, I did not take him to the behavioral hospital, I did take him to his play therapy. My son behavior did not escalate that day. He was very humm sulkish if that is even a word! He was suspended for 2 days and he did nothing those two days. I had the tough love going on. (tough on who me or him?) I voiced to my husband one last time as I grabbed my keys to go to the hospital and he told me he thought I was wasting my time. He did not think they would take him being that he now was not a threat to any one. Like I said before violence is way over my head and I felt he needed to be evaluated. He will have his privileges back for the weekend. I do not think grounding him for too long would do much good due to this horrible disorder. Any feed back on that would be greatly appreciated.
His play therapist felt that if he had continued to be a threat than perhaps it would have been necessary.
We had an ARD for him Weds. and prevailed!!! he is going to be have some special ed classes!!! He will have reading, writing, phonics and math. social studies and science will be in regular classes. I met with the special ed teacher who were going to be assigned to my son and looked at their experience and history with other kids and I was impressed. I hope that my son is also a successful kid that they can use as a good teaching story!! Oh and one more thing just as my stress was blowing up shoulders I got an group email that a treatment call neurofeedback is being done by a psychologist here in town. I researched it and I have scheduled an appointment. I go for the 1st time and the second appt. my son goes. I will keep you all posted on that if you wish. Thanks again for all the responses and support :] You have not idea how much that meant to me son a big Thanks Love ya, Patsy

Hi, I found bio-feedback to be useful for my older son who has a focusing problem. Took about 15 - 20 sessions prior to seeing a positive change in mood and focus. Focus and mood Platued at 40 sessions.

Cheers, Colin.
