My name is Jennifer Smith and I run Aunt Jennie's Family Home Childcare in my house in Ypsilanti. Aunt Jennie's is a place where children can explore and discover through creative play with loving educated caregivers. My mission is to provide a safe and nurturing educational experience for young children, encouraging children to be individuals, make decisions and problem solve as they interact with each other and in their environment. I have been working with children for over 15 years. I currently have an A.A.S in Child Development and a BGS in Children and Families from U of M Dearborn. Every year I do at least 40 training hours learning about children, a few are CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and helping children with special needs and behavior issues. I provide healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks. My backyard has a huge sandbox, two small slides and a medium size climber. There are riding toys and pretend play outside too. Inside children have access to art, pretend play, block play, books all day long. I do have a schedule for the day's activities, but I am very flexible and follow the children needs.
