About Antara Asthaayi Dance
Antara Asthaayi Dance teaches kathak classes, focusing on fundamental techniques of rhythmic language (taal), Hindustani classical music, and story-telling. Inspired
by the teachings of Pandit Chitresh Das, we strive to contextualize the traditions of classical training incontemporary settings, while maintaining their essence and integrity.
Small classes ensure personalized teaching for each student as we navigate their individual journeys towards the ultimate goal of becoming a solo performing artist. Aspiring kathakas
have opportunities to perform in community events and cultural programs held in partnership with local organizations.
We train our dancers in a contemporary adaptation of the guru-shishya parampara (guru-disciple tradition). Our philosophy is to emphasize the arts as a way of life, and we pride
ourselves in offering our students a strong sense of community where they may grow as young artists.…
