ABOUT THE SHOW: Who or what is that shadowy figure playing the piano in the school music room after dark? Several students and Deputy Barney set out to solve this musical mystery with surprising results. Phantom Of The Music Room features songs with clever texts set to musical classics by Beethoven, Haydn, Chopin, Dvorák, Sousa, Grieg, and others. Approximate show length: 25-30 minutes

Featuring a modern synth-pop score, this sci-fi musical comedy explores the ways we build narratives around one another and how a community where everyone is exactly the same is not a community at all. Mix in two lovebirds on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and a sleepy chaperone, and you have the ingredients for a show that will have everyone laughing. Join us for a week of theatre fun! Participants will learn music and choreography from a family friendly musical and create art projects related to the show. This camp is similar in format and spirit to our traditional day-camps and is appropriate for children, teens, and adults on the Autism spectrum, with Down Syndrome, or any student with an Individualized Education Program or 504 Plan. Along with theatre education social skills, emotional identification, and teamwork will be emphasized. Our Adaptive Theatre camps meet Monday - Friday from 5:30 - 7:30pm at the Palace Theatre's new education building, the Doug Smith Performance Center. All camps are staffed with performing arts loving educators trained in inclusive education. This camp will culminate with a performance on Friday, July 18 at 6:30pm at the Doug Smith Performance Center. Some financial assistance may be available and external funding is accepted.
